Want to Know Your Train’s Status?

It is possible for passengers to know the status of the train they are meant to take. Details such as the time of arrival and departure of the train, the running status of the train, its coach position and where the train might be when the enquirer asks. When the enquiry is placed, the person should be aware of details such as the train name, the train number, and the name or code number of the source or destination stations. It can also help if one knows the name of some or at least one of the intermediate stations. 

The Indian Railways are taking measures to ensure a safe as well as a convenient process of the journey  which also includes the booking process. The way the organisation operated formerly used to be pretty complex and time-consuming, but today with the significant effort taken by the organisation, they can proudly state that the systems have been modernised to a great extent and indeed for the better. 

You can find the status of the train by following a few simple steps which anybody can follow easily. According to these steps, you can go to the irctc website, the Indian Railways’ official website. After that, you have to put in a few details such as the number of the train or its name or the name of the station from which or to which it is moving. The code number of these stations can also be used alternatively. A few options will show when you enter all these details. 

Once you get those, you must select the train you are looking for details about. This will offer you info on the date of the departure of the train from the source station and that of the destination station the train will stop at. Also, it will supply you with information on the current status of the train, the status of the train which means whether the train is on time or got delayed and the time at which the train is expected to arrive at the concerned station and depart from the same. 

In the past, there was only one option to check the PNR status of the train. But today, there are multiple options to check the PNR status, the timing of the train and its reservation enquiry too. One easy option is to dial 139, which is a centralised toll-free number and place an enquiry. Or you can go online on the websites irctc.co.in or indianrail.gov.in to know the current status of the train, seat availability or PNR status. It is possible to get your PNR status by smsing  PNR <10 digit PNR number> to 54959.
