Pune to Hyderabad Travel Guide

Pune is the eighth largest metropolitan city of the country and the second largest city of Maharashtra, with its place right after Mumbai city. Pune is not lagging far behind ‘The City of Dreams’ in the sphere of educational or industrial development. Once known as Punya-Nagiri’ or ‘Queen of Deccan’, this city is emerging as the new IT hub of the country. With its numerous malls, restaurants and hotels, Pune has got the complete look of a metropolis.

This Maharashtran city is well known for its tasty street food and variety of street shopping items ranging from accessories to paintings to home décor products. Pune is best known for its lovely climate all year round although the weather is at its best in the months of November and December.

Situated at the intersection of the rivers Mutha and Mula, this city was once ruled by the Marathas and some structures in the region which are of great historical importance stand as evidence of that. Parvati Museum, Osho Ashram, Aga Khan Palace, Raj Bhavan are some places that must be visited in Pune. Pune has its own airport and thus traveling to any other part of India is possible with any trouble.

The splendid metropolitan city of Hyderabad is the capital city of Andhra Pradesh and also the fifth largest city in India. This magnificent city is located on the Deccan Plateau on the banks of River Musi. Hyderabad also known to represent a cultural blend of Persian and Telugu, is around 400 years old. Hyderabad literally translates to ‘City of Hyder’ after Queen Hyder Mahal, wife of King Qutab Shah. Also, known by the epithet ‘City of Nizams’, the city was actually for a long time ruled by the Nizams. Golconda Fort, St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Nizam’s museum (Purani Haveli), Birla Temple and Nehru Zoological Park are places that one should visit in Hyderabad. 

Pune and Hyderabad both have their own airports and thus traveling from Pune to Hyderabad by air is possible. In fact, flight services are offered by Jet Airways, Kingfisher and JetLite to make life easier. Other ways to travel from Pune to Hyderabad are via road and rail. By rail you have passenger and express trains namely Konark Express, Pune Shatabdi, Rajkot Express, Hussainsagar Express etc and run on this route. A relatively economical means of transport from Pune to Hyderabad is by bus and the journey is also pretty comfortable.
