Hyderabad to Pune Travel Guide

The majestic city of Hyderabad is a metropolitan Indian city which is also the fifth largest one of the country. It’s a part of the Deccan Plateau and the capital city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Located on the banks of the River Musi, this city is a very old city, almost 400 years old. The name Hyderabad originated from Queen Hyder Mahal who was the wife of King Qutab Shah and can be literally translated to the ‘city of Hyder’. The culture of this city presents a beautiful blend of both Persian and Telugu cultures.

Hyderabad is also called the ‘City of Nizams’ since it was under the rule of the Nizams for a long period of time. Golconda Fort, St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Birla Temple, Nizam’s museum (Purani Haveli) and Nehru Zoological Park are some places in the grand city that attract many tourists. Hyderabad has its own international airport called Rajiv Gandhi International Airport which connects the city with other parts of the world.

Pune is the eighth largest metropolitan city of India and the second largest city of Maharashtra after its capital city Mumbai. Pune is the new educational, industrial and trade hub of India with its economical status swiftly progressing. At one point known as ‘Punya-Nagiri’ or ‘Queen of Deccan’, this region was once the hometown of the Marathas and thus has buildings and structures of great importance historically.

The city of Pune is situated at the intersection of Mula and Mutha rivers. Pune has a pleasant climate throughout the year but the time around November and December is the best time to visit the city. Parvati Museum, Osho Ashram, Aga Khan Palace , Raj Bhavan are some of the tourist spots in Pune. The Maharashtra city also has its own airport and thus traveling from Hyderabad to Pune is possible by air. Other mediums you can choose to travel by are rail and road. 

The distance from Hyderabad to Pune by road is 557 kilometers and it is possible to travel this distance by road within 8 hours and 50 minutes of time. Jet Airways, Kingfisher and JetLite offer flight services to help connect the two metropolitan cities in as less time as possible. Konark Express, Pune Shatabdi, Rajkot Express, Hussainsagar Express are some trains that ply from Hyderabad to Pune every single day.

Bus services are also available on this route. Bus and train fares are pretty economical compared to other form of transport. You can also choose to travel the distance by taxi.
