Jaipur is a city close to the Thar Desert in the Rajasthan state of India, situated in the northwestern part of the country. One might think Jaipur is as barren as its neighbouring regions, but that is not the case. The city of Jaipur is known by its nickname, ‘Pink City’.
Jaipur is particularly famous for its forts, monuments, temples and gardens, which increase its overall tourist value. Jaipur has many parks; some are natural while others are artificial. Jaipur is a city of art and culture, and many people from different parts of the world visit the city because of its historical richness. Jaipur is also well known for its Havelis and forts, which cover the city. These days these are being converted into luxury hotels where people can experience the best of both worlds; i.e. traditional Jaipur with a modern touch.
Kanak Vrindavan Valley: The Kanak Vrindavan Valley is a very exotic place in Jaipur and is located on the way to the Amer Fort. Snuggled by the Nahargarh hill under which it lies, the entire garden is surrounded by tourist spots like the Amer Palace and Jaigarh Fort. A blanket of lush greenery covers and surrounds the whole region.
Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh: Sisidia Rani Ka Bagh lies 10 kilometres from Jaipur and is situated on the Jaipur to Agra highway. Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh built this royal garden in 1728 for his second queen Sisodia. Beautiful paintings of the love story of Radha and Krishna, who are mythological figures of the Hindu mythology of Mahabharata and are also prayed to as gods, beautify the walls of this garden.
Sawai Jai Singh was also the one to build the city with the help of his leading architect known as Vidyasagar Bhattacharya. The king was forced to make the city because of the increasing number of people in his kingdom of Amber and the scarcity of water in the particular region. Jaipur was the first planned city of India and was built as a walled city according to the principles of ‘Vastu shastra’, the Vedic book of rules of architecture.
Vidyadhar Garden: Vidyadhar Garden is a beautiful garden in the centre of this Rajasthani city. This is also one of Jaipur’s well-maintained gardens. Another critical point is that this garden was built in memory of Jaipur’s chief architect, Vidyasagar Bhattacharya. This is the same architect who had assisted the king of Amber, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, in constructing the city.
Jaipur was built as an ideal Hindu architecture with its eight-part mandala.
