Delicious Cuisine of Bangalore

The social and economic diversity can be seen in the diversity of the cuisine available in the city of Bangalore.  Roadside vendors, tea stalls, North Indian, Muslim food, South Indian, Chinese and Western fast food are a popular food in the city. 

Udupi restaurants are really popular in this part of the country, and these serve different kinds of vegetarian food. There are several Chinese and Thai restaurants, although these are customised and modified to suit the taste of the Indian people. 

Bangalore is often called the ‘foodie’s paradise. This is because of the incredible variety of food and eatables available in the city. These have a touch of Bangalore’s traditions in them.  Some renowned Bangalore vegetarian restaurants include Vidyarthi Bhavan, Udupi Krishna Bhavan, Hotel Sharavathi in Yelahanka, New Krishna Bhavan Ramakrishna Lunch Home, Janatha Hotel, Chalukya Hotel, Central Tiffin Room and MTR (Mavalli Tiffin Room). 

The masala dosa is a rice pancake smeared with chutney of red chilli and stuffed with potato curry. Bisi bele bath, Rava idli, spicy Uppittu and Pongal are some other dishes which are typically local ones and loved by people coming from different parts of the country and globe as well.

 The Muslim cuisine of Bangalore is a mix of that of Hyderabadi Muslims or Nawabi cuisine and Mughlai cuisine, and a distinct flavour of Bangalore is added in it. Arabic cuisine is increasingly on the rise, with Falafel and Shawarma  getting popular in the city and even being served in certain hotels and restaurants. 

Arab students keep visiting and staying in the city, and these joints are popular with these people from the Middle East. The Empire restaurant in Shivajinagar is one of the most famous ones in the city and has branches throughout the region. In Shivajinagar, there is a Chandni Chowk area famous for its many restaurants and cafes or tea shops where business keeps flourishing till late evenings. 

The Tandoori chicken, Sheek kebab, Sheek Rolls and Bangalorean Biriyani are delicacies which are pretty popular among people of the city. The stall on the roadsides is pretty commonly located in Bangalore city. The tasty beef sheek kebab with local Bangalorean recipe Phaal served with hot Sevian rice is a good choice for food-a-holics.

The fried mutton brain can also be a tasty option if you are game to try new food options. Bakeries are enormous in number in the city and offer delectable snacks for food lovers. Also, it is easy to spot fruit juice shops in the city which can be seen almost every walk of 10 minutes. Apart from these easy options, there are several fine dining options where you can get different food styles.
