Hyderabad is the capital city of Andhra Pradesh, a south Indian state, extremely rich in its history and culture. The city is located on the Deccan Plateau and is the fifth largest city of the country. Hyderabad is an old city, as old as 400 years, which is located on the banks of the Munsi River. The city is believed to have been founded by Muhammad Quli Qutab Shah in the year 1591 by the fifth ruler of the Qutab Shahi dynasty. During this period, the whole Deccan region was ruled by the Qutab Shahi dynasty. Initially, they named Golconda as their capital city but later moved it to Hyderabad. This royal city is known as the ‘City of Nizams’ because it was ruled by the Nizams for a long period of time. The Nizams of Hyderabad were popular as the wealthiest royal family in Indian history.
Goa is a union territory of India best known for its beaches and is a very popular getaway destination. Tourism is Goa’s main industry. Goa is the smallest state in India and has the Arabian Sea lying to its west, Maharashtra to its north and Karnataka to its east and South. Goa along with its coastal areas has formed a larger cultural area known as Konkan. Goa is also a very important place for Catholic Christians as St Francis Xavier was buried in the Basilica de Bom Jesus at Old Goa.
Goa was ruled by the Portuguese for almost 450 years and later included as a part of India in 1961. By bus, you can travel from Hyderabad to Goa in just 12 hours at a cost ranging from Rs.400 to Rs1000. Flights connecting the two cities are available at a much higher rate.
